Two men are in custody after snatching Lexus Jeep in Benin

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of snatching vehicles.

Ola Lawan, age 24, and Sunday Olugbemide, 30, were arrested by the Edo State Police command.

On 1 May 2022, around 9pm, Command and Control intelligence Rapid Squad in Edo received a complaint that one Nathaniel Emeka of Iguosa Community was attacked on Benin-Lagos road.

The attackers snatched his Lexus RX 350 Jeep with Reg No. RBC 39 CH and other valuables.

Through a high technical means, men of the Technical Intelligence Unit (TIU) of the Edo State traced the suspects to Owo Town in Ondo State, and with collaboration with the local operatives, the duo were arrested.

During interrogation, the suspects allegedly confessed to being members of a five-man armed robbery gang that attacked and robbed the complainant of his jeep.

The Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Abutu Yaro, vowed to arrest and prosecute all criminal elements in the State.

He advised them to relocate from Edo State to face strong police resistance. ,

He said it is no longer business as usual, and anyone who dares the police command will be strongly resisted.

The Edo police boss appealed to the law-abiding citizens of Edo State to go about their legitimate businesses and asked for their cooperation in giving information to the Police and other security services to achieve a peaceful Edo State.

The owner of the recovered Lexus RX350 car is advised to come to the office of the Police Public relations Officer with valid vehicle particulars for the release of the vehicle.
