Sometimes, the victim is sold a fake commodity and made to believe they had sworn an oath or drugged to keep it a secret, while the mission is to get as much money as possible from their victims.

Standard Gazette learned that one of the gang's operations went sideways after picking the immigration officer identified as "Bose."

Bose was on her way home from Ikpoba Hill in Benin City, entering a public taxi unknown to her she had entered "one chance."

Roland Osagie and Kelvin Ofure, two of the gang members, showed Bose a small stone that they claimed was a diamond.

They approached Bose to buy the fake diamonds, and during the conversation, the woman was believed to have been hypnotized as she suddenly lost consciousness.

The taxi, a Toyota Camry with registration number BEN 658 BP, veered off the major road into adjourning street.

The luck rang out when the gang came face to face with a police patrol team.

The officers, Standard Gazette gathered, noticed the woman sleeping, and when she awoke, was very incoherent in her talk with the police.

The patrol team searched the car and found the purported diamond before arresting the suspects.

One of the suspects, Kelvin, told Standard Gazette, "I was in Libya for two years and just returned to Nigeria. Since l came back, things have been very rough with me.

"I just decided to join this gang to raise money to better myself. I met one pa Ogbe at New Benin, and he taught me how to go about this whole thing".

Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bello Kontongs said, "I want to say that the police will extensively investigate this matter to know how many persons have fallen into the criminal trap of the two suspects.

One chance robbery is a high-level criminal offence, and the two suspects will be severely prosecuted".
