Two men are in police custody on suspicion of armed robbery.

The Edo police command attached to Fugar Division Police headquarters in Etsako central-local government arrested the men during a stop and search on Sunday, 10 July, along Auchi-Ekperi road.

The two men are Emmanuel James, 25, and Mathew Ogbode, 31.

During the search, the police found live cartridges and a cut-to-size locally-made gun recovered in a bag in possession of Emmanuel James.

The police said the duo made a violent move to escape into the bush but were chased and caught after one of the suspects was shot in the foot.

The suspects confessed they belonged to one of the dreaded secret cults in the state.

Police said the investigation was still ongoing and assured other gang members would be traced and arrested.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Abutu Yaro, has vowed to rid the state of criminal elements as he solicits useful information from public members to check criminals' activities.
