Unidentified alleged kidnapper shot dead in Edo State

Nigerian police have shot a suspected kidnapper in Edo State.

It was gathered that the gang of kidnappers was intercepted along the pipeline axis of Ughiole forest in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State on 11 September 2022.

The police said the gang engaged them in a gun duel after sighting them, but one of the kidnappers was shot and later died.

It was learned that other gang members took to their heels into the nearest forest.

Police are reportedly still combing the forest for the fleeing members.

Items recovered from the dead suspected kidnapper include; one locally made gun, amulets, charms, and a cash sum of Two hundred and forty thousand naira (#240,000.00).

The Commissioner of Police CP Abutu Yaro urged the police operatives to continue to flush out every criminal element in Edo state forest.

CP Abutu said that the command was intensifying end-of-the-year security clean-up and appealed to the people to continue to render useful information to the police to help check the activities of criminals in Edo state.
