Police found arrays of weapons in his house
After an altercation, a man escaped death by a whisker after a 63-year-old man pulled a gun on him in Government Reserved Area (GRA) in Benin City.
Victor Omosigho was overpowered by his target on 31 May 2023, in a mechanic workshop along Ihama Road.
The Standard Gazette gathered that the argument started over whose car the mechanic would fix first. The dispute was settled, and Victor left the scene, but unknown to the people, he went for his gun and returned.

Victor returned to the mechanic workshop after about 40mins with an automatic magnum pistol with breech number MG103161 and accosted his target.
It was gathered that the pistol was loaded with four live 99 mmm ammunition and was ready to be used.
His Target noticed the gun as Victor stepped in and quickly wrestled him while other bystanders took to their heels.
The duo struggled with the gun until Victor finally gave in. The anti-kidnapping and Cybercrime Unit of the Edo State was immediately called, and Victor was arrested.
A search warrant was obtained, and Victor’s residence at Egbon Street, Off Benoni Road, GRA, Benin City, was searched, and additional guns were recovered.
Police recovered 82 rounds of live mm ammunition, foreign pistole, one pump action gun with 12 live cartridges, two Springfield pistol magazines, 8 sachets of tramadol, 4 expired Nigerian international passports, 2 expired ECOWAS passports, one expired USA passport, 2 Japanese swords and 1 Japanese granulated cutlass.
The victim told The Standand Gazette, “I came to the mechanic workshop before the man, and the mechanic was attending to me.
The man just came out and ordered the mechanic to abandon my car and fix his own. I reminded him that I came first. The situation led to an altercation but was settled.
“The settlement did not go down well with him. He then left. He suddenly returned with a gun. I have to save my life by fighting him strongly and disarmed him. We call the police and arrested him.”
Victor told TSG, “I was very angry and decided to deal with the man. Though I attribute it to the work of devil. I was discharged from the US Army in 2012 and brought the guns from America.
I am regretting now”.
The suspect is to be thoroughly investigated by the police.
