Despite a court order to free the convener of RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore, the Department of State Service (DSS) has yet to let him go.
The government agency says it was holding the Publisher of Sahara Reporters because his legal team has yet to present a copy of the court order granting him bail.
Dr Peter Afunnaya, Spokesperson of the DSS revealed this on Thursday.

Afunnaya said, “We have not received the court order.
And his (Sowore’s) counsel is a very senior member of the bar and he knows the process to follow; this process has not been followed.

Meanwhile, Sowore commenced a contempt suit against the Director-General of the DSS, Yusuf Bichi for flouting court order
On Tuesday, The Federal High Court in Abuja granted him bail.
The DSS arrested him on August 3, 2019, over his planned RevolutionNow protest scheduled for September 5.
The judge, Justice Taiwo Taiwo dismissed the DSS’ objection in granting Sowore’s bail unless he deposits his passport in the registry of the court.
The Sahara Reporters Publisher has instructed his lawyers to submit his passport to the Deputy Chief Registrar on Wednesday.
The legal counsel also filed an affidavit of compliance with the order of the court and submitted a copy to the DSS.
However, the DSS refused to free Sowore claiming his lawyer was yet to present a copy of the court order granting him bail.
Sowore’s lawyer, Femi Falana filed a ‘Notice of consequence of court order’ on Thursday which is to be served to the DSS Boss warning him that he could face jail terms for violating the court order.
“Notice that unless you obey the direction contained in the order of the Federal High Court of Justice, Abuja delivered on September 21, 2019, which ordered you to release the applicant in Suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/915/2019 forthwith, you will be guilty of contempt of court and will be liable to be committed to prison. A copy of the said order of court earlier served on you is hereby annexed for your on-the-spot reference.
“This court has been Informed that even as at today, Thursday, September 26, 2019, you are yet to comply with the lawful order of the Federal High Court by refusing to release the applicant namely: OMOYELE SOWORE, in your custody.
You are hereby directed to comply with the court order forthwith or you will be guilty of contempt of court.”
