Nigerian ex-senator Ehigie Uzamere said Nigerians now take Peter Obi as a "Joseph, David, and Jesus Christ" even though he was an importer during his eight years as a governor in Anambra State.
Uzamere, an ardent supporter of the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar, said, "it will be impossible for Peter Obi to win the 2023 presidential election as the Labour Party does not have considerable supporters in Northern Nigeria.
In his jibe against Obi, Uzamere said the LP candidate "imported items from abroad for his shop than encourage local production of items, " contrary to Mr Obi's campaign's focus.
Uzamere described Obi as social Media president, teasing that "he will not get 50% of the votes cast in the South East."
Uzamere said, "Without political structure across the country, which Labour Party does not have, it will be impossible for Peter Obi to win the 2023 presidential election, except social media president.
"He will not get 50% of the votes cast in the South East. Do not forget that some Party members will not ditch their party for Obi. There's no doubt we want genuine change, but more people are less emotional than the very emotive lot we find on social media.
"According to Benin proverb, 'agha rhunmwunde oghionmwan rhue aro aimien aro ya ghe osiomwan'. This means that if you blind yourself so that you do not see your enemy, you will not also be able to see your friend.
"What do I see playing out in the 2023 election? A repeat of the 1979 presidential election? If we recall, we had NPP, UPN, NPN, and PRP, which can be likened to NPP-LABOUR, UPN-APC, NPN-PDP, and PRP-NNPP. Just like in 1979, Labour will vote Obi, the North in APC will leave the South West for Tinubu, and vote en-masse for Atiku and PDP. PDP is a transformation of the 1979 NPN, while NNPP is PRP."
"Peter Obi imports hundreds of containers of finished products into this country. From Heinz products to sardines.
"Atiku, on the other hand, is the owner of Faro Water and Beverages, the American University of Nigeria in Yola - a school from kindergarten to university, has a farm and produces fertiliser, among his other businesses. Who amongst these two will best grow our economy? An importer or a builder of local content? But if you choose to make yourself blind, you will not see your friend Atiku the Unifier and PDP the Party to beat in 2023. Mark my words," the Senator noted.©Standard Gazette, 2021.
