A frontline political leader from Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Hajia Mariam Yakubu, has called on the people of the Kogi East Senatorial District to come out en masse and take part in the ongoing voter registration exercise.
Speaking to journalists in Lokoja Hajia Yakubu emphasized the importance of active civic participation as the foundation of any thriving democracy.
She noted that voter registration is not just a constitutional right, but a vital step in ensuring that the voices of the people are heard and represented.
“The power to shape the future of our communities lies in our hands, and that power begins with the Permanent Voter Card (PVC),” Hajia Yakubu stated.
“I urge every eligible voter, especially the youth and women across Kogi East, to take advantage of this opportunity to register and prepare to vote in the forthcoming elections.”
Hajia Yakubu, a Chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC , used the opportunity to appeal to the people of Kogi State to throw their support behind the ADC in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
She expressed confidence in the party’s vision and capacity to bring meaningful development to the state.
“The ADC is committed to inclusive governance, youth empowerment, and grassroots development. I encourage our people to rally behind the party as we prepare for 2027,” she said.
She also commended senatorial aspirant hopeful Aminu Suleman Abubakar for his ongoing support to the grassroots, describing him as a visionary leader with the interest of the people at heart.
Hajia Yakubu called on all and sundry in Kogi East to support Aminu’s ambition, saying his emergence would mark a turning point in the district’s political and socio-economic landscape.
.“Aminu has shown unwavering commitment to the upliftment of our people. His consistent support at the grassroots level is commendable, and I believe he deserves our collective backing,” she added.
She further praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for facilitating a smooth registration process and urged traditional rulers, community leaders, and civil society groups to help in mobilizing the public for voter registration.
Hajia Yakubu, known for her grassroots engagement and advocacy for inclusive governance, reiterated her commitment to political awareness and empowerment across Kogi East.
“We cannot afford to sit on the sidelines. Participating in the electoral process is a duty we owe to ourselves and future generations,” she concluded.
