Three people, including a police officer, were killed in a clash involving supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi state, Nigeria. The incident occurred on Monday evening in Ekoli-Edda, Afikpo, south LGA of the state.

According to Chris Anyanwu, Ebonyi police spokesperson, the altercation resulted from longstanding grudges between political factions and began when a youth leader was shot and killed.

In response, community members went on a rampage, killing the younger brother of the state APC chairman and a police inspector, and setting fire to the village house of Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha and two vehicles.

Two suspects have been arrested, while others remain at large.

In response to the incident, the governor of Ebonyi has ordered the arrest of the state APC chairman and the party's house of representatives candidate for the Afikpo north/south constituency. He has directed security forces to investigate and prosecute those found culpable.
