The Governor Of Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has reiterated his administration’s stand on arrest and prosecution of those involved in the attack on soldiers in Okomu, Ovia South West Local Government Area.
The Governor disclosed this when he received the General Officer Commanding 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Ibadan, Major General Obinna Godwin Onubogu, who is in Benin as part of his tour of commands under his area of responsibility.
The visit followed the attack on soldiers attached to Okomu Oil PLC in Ovia South West Local Government Area and the subsequent visit by Gov. Obaseki’s representative to the military hospital Benin to empathize with the victims.
Gov. Obaseki commended the military for complimenting the efforts of other security agencies in the state, reiterating that the state is going after those involved in the attack on the soldiers attached to Okomu Oil Palm PLC in Ovia South West.
He insisted that the state would not accept the level of arms build-up across the state by cultists and Okaigheles.
Maj. Gen Onubogu, on a tour in his area of responsibility, commended the state government and the traditional institution for their partnership on the safety and security of citizens in the state.
Major General Obinna Godwin Onubogu, who was earlier at the palace of the Oba of Benin accompanied by the Commander 4 Brigade Nigerian Army Brig Gen. Ebenezer Oduyebo, said the army will not fold its arms and see hoodlums trying to breach law and order.
The GOC, who commended the state governor for his prompt response to the shooting of military personnel in Okomu, promised that the area will be rid of harmful elements that are trying to cause problems in the area.
