..says APC no longer represents Benue people

While the All Progressives Congress (APC) is trying to come to term with the hurricane shift that took place in the party on Tuesday, the Executive governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom announced his defection to the main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party on Wednesday.

This was confirmed by his spokesman, Terver Akase.
He said “Yes, he has defected from APC to PDP,” Mr Akase said by phone Wednesday.
Premium Times confirmed it from his media adviser, Tahav Agerzua. He said his principal complained that the APC does not represent the people of Benue anymore.
“He now believes that his aspiration and the plight of Benue people would be better realised in the PDP than the APX,” Mr Agerzua said.
The governor had made the announcement at a meeting with the local government chairmen and councillors at the Government House in Makurdi on Wednesday, according to Channels TV report.
Though the move looks expected as the members of state House of Assembly impeached its APC speaker, Terkimbi Tyanger who is a member of the APC.
In the federal level, the APC experienced a huge shift on Tuesday as members of the Senates and House of Assembly decamped to ADC, and mostly to the PDP.
The governor’s decision has been expected for weeks as he was one of the three APC governors rumoured to be moving to the PDP with other two being Abdulfattah, Ahmed of Kwara and Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State.
