By Ehi Ekhator
President Muhammadu Buhari did not attend the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting today.
The Chambers of the Aso rock where the meeting is usually held was abandoned.
It could be recalled that Buhari was also absent at last week meeting, which sparked speculations about his health until Lai Mohammed explained that the President was hail and hearty.
The Minister of Information also explained that Buhari attended to other issues and as a result, could not attend the FEC meeting.
In a similar situation today, the Presidency explained why the FEC meeting was not held by the President.
According to the Senior Special Assistant to Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the council secretariat did not have enough time to prepare and circulate memos to ministers due to the Easter break.
“The staff on the Council secretariat resumed on Tuesday after the Easter. There was no time to prepare and circulate memos to ministers.
“By practice, the ministers receive council memos two or three days ahead of meetings because they must read them and sometimes undertake research.
“It is not a rubber stamp council so everyone must prepare themselves well for debates.” Garba Shehu said.
