Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State clarified on a recent Channels Television morning show that the All Progressives Congress (APC) did not make any promises to retain the fuel subsidy or redesign the naira.
El-Rufai explained that there is a distinction between the decisions of President Muhammadu Buhari’s regime and the APC’s manifesto.
He stated, “The President’s term ends on May 29th and he may not want to remove the subsidy. Our party’s manifesto never promised to keep the petroleum subsidy or redesign the currency.”
When asked about any division between those in the villa and the APC members, El-Rufai responded, “Most of them are not APC members…I believe there are elements in the villa that want us to lose the election because they didn’t get their way.”
