Council Chairman Suspended In Ogun For Accusing The Governor Of Diverting Local Government Fund
Ijebu – East Local Government Council Chairman in Ogun State, Wale Adedayo, has been suspended by councillors for accusing the State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, of diverting Councils’ allocations.
Over 100 armed Policemen and political thugs guarded the council secretariat to prevent the Chairman and his supporters from stopping the suspension move against him by the councillors.
The embattled Chairman had written a petition against the Governor to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, detailing the financial underhand dealing allegedly perpetuated by the Governor with the local government fund in the State.

However, The Governor denied the allegations levelled against him by the Chairman and insisted that his administration has been augmenting the local government’s allocations to enable them to meet their monthly obligation.
Other council chairpersons in the State were said to have gone to plead with the Governor on behalf of their colleague, but they were shocked by the turn of events on Thursday when the councillors moved against the Chairman with no reasons given for their action.
Local government councils in Nigeria have been at the mercy of the lawless governors who see their councils as a conduit pipe to syphoned millions of Naira from the monthly allocation, while the graft agencies look the other way, claiming that the governors have political immunity against prosecution.
