Crisis in Edo State House of Assembly as the speaker of the house, Mr. Victor Edoro and his deputy have been impeached.

Edoror was impeached by 15 out of 24 members Assembly for what they termed as incompetence and high-handedness
A new speaker, Mrs Elizabeth Ative as a replacement after their impeachment.
Both the speaker and his deputy came into office about a year ago.
The motion for impeachment was moved by the Majority Leader, Mr. Folly Ogedemgbe representing Owan-East constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, and was seconded by Mr. Patrick Illuobe representing Esan North-East constituency on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
A mild drama ensued immediately after Mr. Victor Assen representing Owan-East on the platform of the APC nominated Ativie for a new speaker while Henry Okhuobo representing Orhionmwon (APC) nominated MR. Justin Okonobo representing Igueben constituency as the deputy speaker.
unconfirmed report indicates that there were gunshot heads around the house which made security operatives to immediately took over the premises as some of the staff run for safety.
A member of the APC who did not want his name mentioned attributed the cause of the decision to the speaker’s inability to carry his members along.
The source said “But on a personal note, I see what is happening in EDHA as issues bothering on Administration and lack of the Speaker Victor Edoror inability to carry all of the Legislators along.”
