Dennis Idahosa, one of the governorship aspirants in the February 22nd primary election in Edo State, staged a protest in the National secretariat of the All Progressives Congress in Abuja, calling for the primary cancellation.
Idahosa was declared the winner of the party’s primary, headed by the Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, on 17 February 2024 in Edo State.
In his recent protest, Idahosa threatened to drag the APC to court until justice is done while appealing to President Bola Tinubu to call the National Working Committee (NWC) to restore the pronouncement of Uzodimma.
APC cancelled the primary election and emerged Idahosa as the winner, leading to another primary scheduled yesterday, 24 February 2024.
The NWC appointed Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State to conduct a fresh governorship primary, which produced Monday OKpebholo as the party’s candidate.
Otu said Okpebholo pulled 12,433 votes to defeat the other eleven aspirants.
Idahosa scored 6,541 out of the 31 863 votes cast in the primary.
Otu said there were 31 863 accredited voters, total votes cast 31 863, valid votes 31 863, and zero invalid ballots in the race that featured 12 contestants.
