DEPUTY GOVERNOR IMPEACHMENT: Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu’ s Woe Deepens As Chief Judge Constitutes 7 Man Committee

As Directed by the Edo state House of Assembly regarding the ongoing impeachment procedure of deputy governor Philip Shaibu, the Chief Judge has approved the Constitution of a seven-man committee to investigate the allegations levelled against him.

According to the chief Judge, Justice Okungbowa, in line with the Constitution of the Republic of Nigeria section 188(5), the resolution of the state legislation had been adhered to by the 7-man Committee list.

In a modified statement released on Monday by Registrar B.

O. Osawaru Esquire on the directive of the Chief Judge, the names of the 7-man Committee are Justice S.A. Omonua as Chairman, Professor Theresa Akpoghome, Mr.

Oghogho AyodeleOviasu, and Surveyor Andrew Oliha as members.

Other members are Idris Abdulkareem, President Aigbokhain Esquire and Marian Ilevbare as members.

Last week, the Edo State House of Assembly, after the endorsement of nineteen members, passed a resolution directing the Chief Judge to convene a seven-man committee to investigate the embattled deputy governor on Perjury and Disclosure of government secrets.
