The Deputy Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Mrs.) Maria Omozele Oligbi-Edeko has reiterated her commitment to youth empowerment and development in Edo Central Senatorial District and the state at large.
She gave the assurance during a courtesy visit by members of the Nigerian Youth Parliament representing Edo Central Senatorial District to the State Assembly complex in Benin City.
While receiving the delegation, Rt.
Hon. Oligbi-Edeko expressed her readiness to collaborate with the Nigerian Youth Parliament in fostering initiatives aimed at enhancing the lives and prospects of young people in the region.

“Through collaboration and shared responsibility, we can build a brighter future for our young people,” she said, emphasizing the need for synergy between youth-focused institutions and the legislature.
She also pledged to work closely with the Nigerian Youth Parliament to identify and implement strategies that would promote skills development, entrepreneurship, and education reforms across the district.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Hon.
Ikhili Ehiaghe Iziegbe (BPT, mMRTB), said the visit was aimed at formally introducing the representatives of the Nigerian Youth Parliament from Edo Central and exploring potential areas of partnership with the House of Assembly.
“In pursuit of our mission to foster meaningful engagement and empowerment for the youth of Edo Central Senatorial District, we see this as an opportunity to advocate for increased youth participation in governance, policy formulation, and empowerment initiatives,” she stated.
She further appealed for the Deputy Speaker’s support in addressing pressing issues affecting young people and called for strategic collaboration in the area of youth development.
“We remain committed to advocating for policies that enhance youth development and will continue working with relevant stakeholders to achieve meaningful progress,” she added.
Also present during the visit were other members representing Edo Central Senatorial District in the Nigerian Youth Parliament.
