- My hands are clean, says Olisa Metuh
A governorship candidate from Umukhukwu in Orumba South Local Government Area in Anambra State, Dr Godwin Maduka, has accused a former spokesperson of the People Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh of duping him.
Dr Maduka, a Nigerian-American Doctor and founder of the Las Vegas Pain Institute and Medical Center, is a governorship candidate of the Accord Party (AP).
The Accord Party governorship candidate claimed that Metuh collected N65,000,000 (Sixty-five million) during the “proceedings of the primary election” with the assurance of securing the party governorship ticket for him.
Dr Maduka also alleged that he gave Metuh a Mercedez-Benz-G-Class for the same reason.
In a statement personally signed on Monday by the politician, Dr Maduka asks the Inspector General of Police, IGP, to investigate the allegation.
“During the proceedings of the primary election in my former party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), one Mr Olisa Metuh approached and demanded N65m with the assurance of securing the party’s governorship ticket for me. He also collected a Mercedez-Benz-G-Class.
“He also allegedly duped other former aspirants to the tune of millions.
“The purpose of this petition is to request you to use your good offices to investigate this case and recover my money and car from him.”
In reaction, Metuh took to his Facebook wall to complain about the AP politician’s alleged antics.
Metuh denied collecting money and a car from Dr Maduka, claiming his problem started after his Special Assistant released a statement against former Governor Peter Obi and Senator Ekwunife to impose a non-party man as national Auditor.
Metuh responded to Standard Gazette’s query that “it’s a fake letter, it’s political blackmail. Such a thing never happened.”
“This evening, an outlandish and childish fake letter just started flying around.
“My hands are very clean, and this blackmail is equivalent to me authoring a spurious claim linking a man to drug money or demanding a DNA for all of a woman’s children.”
