The Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State may have bitten more than it can chew during the last governorship primaries that took place in the state where Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu emerged the winner.

Other aspirants who felt aggrieved over the way the primaries was conducted have refused to lower their intentions to become the next governor of the state as many have resorted to running under other political parties.

NAIJA CENTER NEWS has gathered that some aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and PDP may come together to contend with the ruling party and its main opposition.

NAIJA CENTER NEWS gathered from a source who didn’t want to be named as she’s not permitted to speak on the issue that, Chief Solomon Edebiri may be the governorship candidate of the yet to be known, but one of the registered parties.

The unknown masterminds have analyized the situation of the two political parties (PDP and APC) and resorted that APC has lost credibility in the eyes of the people and the PDP is divided between Makarfi and Ali Modu Sheriff which means that PDP may not contest the coming election for the following reasons:

If Alli Modu Sheriff’s faction wins, Pastor Iyamu is out. Yet the Alli Modu Sherriff’s faction may not be able to field their candidate because :

1. They fell short of the mandatory 21 day notice to INEC.

2. INEC was not present during the primaries.

If however, the Markafi’s faction wins, there just might not be enough time to submit Pastor’s name because

1. Judgement will be delivered July 4th ( the very last day of submission)

2. They must vacate the interim order from another court barring them from submitting a name.

Head or tail, the PDP may be heading for a shut down in Edo as a result of virus attack.

The source said “There are pressures, very serious pressures on Chief Edebiri to run on another platform. The move is being put together by a coalition of former aspirants in the APC as well as other parties.

“They are ready to provide the funds and logistics. They just want to edge out the PDP and the APC and provide a viable option. Their plans are to pull out their men from both parties and follow it up with aggressive media campaigns using Chief Edebiri as the image.

“They may have not less than five former guber aspirants coming together. Chief Edebiri is very wary of taking a dive that may affect his credibility and integrity status. He is however giving it very serious attention. He has asked for time to consider. He does not want to be like every other Nigerian politician who moves like a pawn.

“There is very serious possibility it may happen. Chief Edebiri has made it very clear he has nothing against Pastor Ize-Iyamu but has everything against Chief Dan Orbih. He does not want to stand on the same podium with him for whatever reason. He also does not trust Edo APC especially with the negative image the party now has in the minds of the public. Therefore, if the terms are right, and a workable plan in place, he may accept to run.”

Speaking with NAIJA CENTER NEWS on the issue, Chief Edebiri AG. Director of Media and Publicity Mr Omokhudu Odion confirmed the speculation but refused to elucidate

Omokhudu said “There are pressures like that and several other pressures from different quarters which I am not at liberty to disclose to you. I advised we wait for the committee he set up to submit their report and Chief Edebiri will make a statement.”

While speaking with NAIJA CENTER NEWS on Friday, Chief Edebiri confirmed the speculation that there are people asking him to run on another political party, but added that he has not decided.

He also lamented the appalling primaries conducted by the PDP at Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin which brought Ize-Iyamu as the winner, adding that

“The process that led to the emergence of a candidate in the PDP was seriously skewed in one direction and manipulated by the party authority in Edo State.

“It got to the point where instructions were given by the party leadership that party leaders and local government chairmen across the 18 local governments should raise their delegates in favour of Pastor Ize-Iyamu. That has made me lose absolute faith in the system, and when the same authorities are still around, I am fighting within myself how much confident I can repose in the relationship. In the face of this, a lot of other party members are coming to me including APC. APC has a candidate but they are also coming, other political parties are also coming, so far we have received the advances of not less than four political parties.

“I have not made up my mind, I told them I need time to think but they believe if i come out in any political party, they rally round me, we still have a chance to serve Edo people and make the change that we really want, to raise a new Edo State, a departure from this cultural, traditional system where they breed people to extort the state. They want to come out to the era of credibility.”

Identifying those responsible for the aggressive takeover, Chief Edebiri said “I don’t want people speculating. I may make up my mind not to do so and I am dealing with a very treacherous kind of people in PDP. By the time they know party A or Party B is talking to me, they can go behind and try to make things difficult for those people, so I have to be very protective of the people talking to me

“I dealt with PDP for two years, two years I trusted them and within 24hrs they broke the trust and threw it to the bin. They pretended for two years and I can no longer trust them for one minute. I don’t want to endanger the safety of so many people who just want good thing for Edo State. If they know the platform, they will start terrorism the people.

“A night before the primaries, I got information from the field that there has been an instruction passed around that the Sate Chairman has appointed Ize-Iaymu as the party candidate. I told Chief Tony Anineh of the information and he insulted my source of information. He said God will punish my source of information and I didn’t know he knew what was going on and that was why he could say that. Those coordinator of mine refused to come to Benin because they didn’t want to be in trouble for not voting for Pastor Ize-Iyamu.

“Imasuen and Senator Uzamere left the party because they were both aware of the grand plan that Dan Orbih has perfected, to give the ticket to Ize-Iyamu, but we didn’t know and now Mathew has gone to the other camp to pick up ticket because of Dan Orbih and Osagie. And of course they are thinking they can keep me, I am just taking time to take my decision. Whatever reason, I cannot work with Dan Orbih, I cannot.” He concluded.
