There is an air of uncertainty as the two major political parties, PDP and APC, go to the poll on Thursday, February 22nd, 2024, to pick who will fly their party ticket in the forthcoming governorship election billed for September 21st.

However, while the PDP will be going for a fresh primary, the APC will conclude theirs after the initial one was declared inclusive by the National Working Committee after the exercise produced three winners.

On the part of the PDP 10, the aspirants will be slugging it out at the Ogbe hardcourt wing of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

However, there are fears of Apprehension as one of the aspirants, Alhaja Umoru, has approached a Federal High Court to challenge the legality of the primary.

This has put stakeholders in the PDP on alert even though the process has been slated to begin at 8am on Thursday with the accreditation of delegates at Edo Marque before moving to the Stadium for the exercise proper.

On the side of the APC, information gathered reveals that the primary will be held in 10 local government areas after the former chairman, Governor Hope Uzodinma, was booted out from the Thursday contest and replaced by his deputy after his supervision produced three candidates which led to a brewing crisis in the Edo APC.

Till now, it is not clear if all the aspirants of the APC would be contesting after some have already congratulated some of the self-acclaimed winners or only those three that declared themselves winners.

However, at the end of Thursday, the PDP and APC’s candidates hopefully would have emerged to set the stage for a stiff contest.
