Trading of words during the election has again reared its ugly head, a few months to the Edo state governorship election, as the Labour Party Candidate Olumide Akpata has accused the PDP of masterminding attack on him at the UNIBEN staff club, which, according to him left one person shot.
He said he was invited to an interactive session with members of the Senior staff club to share ideas since the PDP candidate had also been a guest the previous week.
Mr Olumide said some, however, disrupted the meeting, alleging hoodlums, which he claimed were sponsored by the PDP.
If not for the proactiveness of his security, it would have been a different ball game, as he alleges his life was the target.
However, in a swift reaction, the PDP debunked the allegation, saying it was not a foremost Candidate how much it was seen that the PDP was scared and going after to disrupt his meetings.
The PDP said its Candidate, as he is known across the world, is a man with integrity and does not engage in any action inimical to humanity as the party is putting everything in place to kick off the campaign a few months from now with the lifting of the campaign and Urge the LP Candidate to look else if actually looking for cheap propaganda.
The leadership of the University Of Benin and its students Union government have distanced themselves from the act, which was said to have happened on the institution’s premises.
