The Chairman of the Edo State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Tony Aziegbemi, has been kidnapped.

Investigation reveals that Dr Aziegbemi was kidnapped at the entrance of his house along country home Hotel Road, Off Sapele Road, Benin City, while returning from a meeting with the governor of Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki.

The Standard Gazette learned that the abductors kidnapped the Chairman when the driver was about to enter the compound; they blocked the jeep, took Dr Tony Aziegbemi away and left the driver.

Though the police are yet to confirm the issue, the leadership of APC in Edo has condemned the kidnap and called for his immediate release.

In a statement signed by the Acting chairman of the party, Jarret Tenebe blamed the kidnap on the poor security architecture of the state and called on the state governor, Godwin Obaseki, to do everything possible to beef up security in the state.

The Edo PDP has yet to release any statement regarding the ugly incident as of press time.

However, no communication from the abductors.
