The Edo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has tackled the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki for using public school compound for an event as against the ban he, the governor had placed.

It could be recalled that Godwin Obaseki prohibited and banned the use of public school fields or compounds for use as venue or grounds for any event apart from school activities.
In placing this ban, many ordinary citizens that could not, and can not afford the exorbitant fees charged by the few private events centers were hard hit. Some that had already booked and paid for the use of the school grounds lost their deposits and in some cases lost more than just deposit as the announcement of the ban was with “immediate effect.
Mr. Mr. Chris Nehikhare, who is the state publicity secretary in Edo State described the governor’s action as hypocritical for violating his own prohibition and ban.
The PDP secretary also accused Obaseki of spending public fund to thank party officials for successfully, rigging the last governorship election.
He said “Edo state government has sunk to a new low. You will recall that EDSG prohibited and banned the use of public school fields or compounds for use as venues or grounds for any event apart from school activities.
“In the most hypocritical manner and with total disrespect to Edo people, Governor Godwin Obaseki led APC government, is now using the prohibited public school fields for his so called “thank you rally”. To add insult to injury, he is also doling out millions of Naira to APC party executives in the units, wards and local government areas that manufactured the highest votes for his election.
“The insensitivity of this gesture at a time pensioners are “begging” for their entitlement, the state NUJ is at daggers drawn our the illegal withdrawal of state funds to service ” friends of Adams Oshiomhole” and schools, primary and secondary are starved of subventions, as schools with up to 23 class arms are given one marker as stationary is most unfortunate.”
