All Heads of Local Government Administration across Edo State’s 18 councils have been directed to proceed on compulsory leave with immediate effect.
This was disclosed during a press briefing by the Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Adjoto, held at the Commission’s headquarters in Benin City.
At the press briefing, the chairman of Edo State Local Government Service Commission, Rt Hon Kabiru Adjoto, said the decision to reform the commission is part of ongoing efforts to restructure and reposition the local government system for greater efficiency, transparency, and improved service delivery.
He said the measure will enable the Commission to assess administrative performance and strengthen operations at the grassroots in line with Governor Monday Okpebholo’s SHINE Agenda.
“One of the decisions we have taken is a directive to all local government administration HoLGAs to proceed on compulsory leave.
“The decision is in line with the ongoing restructuring and revamping of the local government council system in Edo, aimed at strengthening administrative efficiency, promoting accountability, transparency, and repositioning the local government service for improved service delivery.
“The local Government Service Commission has reviewed the existing administration framework across the council, that is, across the 18 local government councils.
“Consequent upon this, the commission hereby directs ball heads of local government administration across the 18 local government councils to proceed on compulsory leave with effect from today”.
During a facility tour of the Commission’s ICT and Audit offices, the Chairman and the Director for Budget, Planning, Research, and Statistics, Mr. Osazee Obaizamomwan, spoke on the digitalization of staff records.
The Commission says the digital transformation will help streamline postings, prevent duplication, and enhance productivity across all 18 local government councils.
