EDSG Dissociates Self From Trending Video Threatening Arrest Of Peter Obi, ADC Members.

Edo State Government has dissociated itself from a trending video in which an aide to Gov Okpebholo, Emmanuel Akpan Egogo, allegedly threatened to arrest members of the ADC and hand them over to the State Police Commissioner, Monday Agbonika.

This was among the issues discussed during a bi-monthly briefing at the state’s instance. 

Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Prince Kassim Afegbua, a few days ago, stated that the state police command distanced itself from the unguarded comment by Emmanuel Egogo, who, despite being a senior special assistant to the governor, was described as a comedian by the police.

This necessitated the Briefing to journalists by the commissioner for information and strategy. Prince Kassim Afegbua said in view of the trending video, it was necessary to reiterate that Gov. Okpebholo does not tolerate gangsterism, noting that the Gov. is open to constructive engagement from the opposition in the interest of the state.

He said the administration of Governor Monday okpekholo is a responsible type of government and doesn’t condone gangsterism. 

“It was an embarrassment period as a governor reason we decided as a responsible government to clear the air and openly distance ourselves from such irresponsible comment we don’t antagonize opposition and don’t tolerate careless comments”

The commissioner also highlighted key areas of development by the administration to include security, a one hundred and fifty-bed space Udomi Teaching Hospital, increased grants to the state-owned Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma and Edo University, Iyamho, promotion in the civil service after over years of stagnation, employment of over one thousand civil servants across different cadres and recruitment of over five thousand teachers.

Prince Afegbua said that with about 10 billion naira in Internally Generated Revenue and monies accruing from the removal of fuel subsidy, the state government is renewing its commitment to ensuring that residents benefit from the progressive policies of the state government in areas of promotion of civil servants after a long period of stagnation, recruitment of over 1000 civil servants, in addition to five thousand teachers, in line with the administration’s SHINE Agenda.

He encouraged journalists and media to partner with the state government by highlighting progress made on the Benin Auchi Road, the Ramat Park Flyover, noting that plans have been concluded by the state government to unveil the first set of fifty CNG mass transit buses out of 100 procured, in addition to full-scale operations of over twenty primary healthcare centres across the state.

Prince Afegbua also explained some recent political developments across the state.
