FREEPRESS — Edo State Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism, Barr. Mcdonald Obasuke today in Owan West Local Government Area disrupted Mr. Godwin Obaseki’s campaign trail with armed thugs who beat up delegates loyal to the governorship aspirant and chase them away with guns.

Mr. Godwin who was shocked at the development was totally rattled because of his smooth movement from Ward 01 to ward 11 of the local government until he got to Sobe, being the last ward in the local government and also the home of Arts, Culture and Tourism Commissioner.
An eye witness account revealed that some of the Obaseki’s followers who were attacked at Sobe had no inkling that the attack was in the offing. The source said thus: “We are baffled that governor Adams Oshiomhole and Mr. Godwin Obaseki have characters like Barr. Mcdonald, a known cultist in his cabinet and campaign trail”, the anonymous party faithful said.
The immediate past chairman of Owan East Local government, Barr. Jimoh Ijegbai corroborated what was revealed earlier to FREEPRESS that Arts and Culture Commissioner was at the heart of the shooting at Sobe. Barr. Ijegbai Said he was also prevented from entering Sobe, by the same commissioner who said that they were not from the same local government.
Another eye witness account revealed that the immediate past chairman of Owan West council, Hon. Reginald Okun’s and the Commissioner’s boys, three in number have been caught with guns about to be moved to the state police headquarters in Benin City.
It was further revealed that the shooting incident was as a result of cult supremacy between the Arts and Culture commissioner and the immediate past chairman of Owan West who are both Mr. Godwin Obaseki’s supporters.
You will recall that a few days ago the deputy governor of the state, Dr. Pius Odubu escaped assassination attempt on his life at the campaign rally in Etsako West Local government. Our sources learnt that Mr. Godwin Obaseki who was afraid for his life hurried out of the shooting scene and could not continue his campaign.
The state commissioner of police Mr. Chris Ezike confirmed the incident, but however told FREEPRESS that he is yet to receive report from the DPO Sabogidda-Ora and Auchi which controls Sabogidda-Ora’s division.
