….,SAYS IT IS THE HANDIWORK OF DETRACTORS
The George Turnah Youth Initiative (GTYI) has officially reacted to a news report published in some session of the media, which alleged that serving governors elected under the platform of the PDP were working against the ambition of Barrister George Turnah Alabh, and had thrown their weight behind former Acting Chairman of the party, Mr. Uche Secondus, for the position of Deputy National Chairman in the South-South.
The GTYI in a press statement issued in Yenagoa at the weekend said the said newspaper report was a deliberate orchestration by enemies of the party to cause ripples in the PDP family ahead of the party’s convention in Port Harcourt and cautioned the party faithful to be mindful of the antics of detractors who are hell bent on keeping the party in disarray.
The GTYI maintained that the position of the Deputy National Chairman had been zoned to the South South and that there was no resolution whatsoever reached to adopt Mr. Secondus as consensus candidate for the position and called on the media to avoid what it called “fictionalization of journalism” for political patronage.
“The GTYI wants to make it very clear that at no time did serving governors of our great party met or resolved to take such position as alleged in the news report.
This report is the handiwork of those who don’t wish the PDP well; it is a deliberate orchestration by enemies of the PDP to keep us divided on the compelling need to rebuild PDP into a strong and vibrant party it needs to be before the 2019 general elections.
“We are therefore using this medium to appeal to all party faithful and supporters of George Turnah to discountenance the said reckless publication and remain focused on the goal of electing credible leaders in the National Convention come the 17th of August 2016.
“
The statement which was signed by the Central Coordinator, Comrade Kokobaiye Abeki, said their support for George Turnah was unwavering, stressing that no amount of propaganda in the media would distract them from staying the course to the end.
