In a recent turn of events, controversy has arisen over the alleged resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Sunday. While some reliable sources have confirmed his resignation, others maintain that it is merely a rumour.
As of press time, The Standard Gazette has been unable to officially confirm the alleged resignation. Meanwhile, prominent APC leaders, when contacted by our correspondents, provided conflicting information on the matter. These developments occur just two days before the highly anticipated National Caucus and National Executive Committee meetings of the party.
An anonymous member of the APC National Working Committee (NWC) confirmed the alleged resignation to our correspondent on Sunday night. However, the exact date of Adamu’s resignation could not be immediately ascertained.

It is believed that President Bola Tinubu ordered Adamu to step down from his position. Reports indicate that the resignation letter was delivered to President Tinubu by Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State. However, it remains uncertain whether Adamu resigned voluntarily or under pressure. APC spokesman Felix Mouka has not spoken regarding the development.
Nevertheless, sources suggest that Adamu’s failure to support Tinubu’s presidential aspirations ahead of the party’s convention might have played a role in his resignation. When questioned about the alleged resignation, the party’s Director of Publicity, Bala Ibrahim, neither confirmed nor denied the development. He stated, “I cannot say anything for now. I read the purported resignation of our National Chairman like most Nigerians, but this is all I can say for now.”
