Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has raised a fresh alarm over the high level of insecurity in the country.

The former vice president noted that the rising case of insecurity in the northern part of the country is jeopardizing the provisions of food in Nigeria.
He called on the federal and state government to rise against the tide of insecurity, so as to address food scarcity in the country

Atiku in his verified tweeter handle said that farming remains the major occupation in the northern part of Nigeria, stressing that this occupation is greatly been affected by the insecurity in both the nort-east and north- west.

“Farming is not just an occupation for the majority of the people of Nigeria, but also, the lifeblood of the North. Northern Nigeria is synonymous to agriculture”.

While we hoe and pray for our security agents to overcome these challenges, citizens should organise themselves and also be vigilant in detecting the movements of criminal elements in their areas. Hard times don’t last forever. Together, we shall overcome our challenges.”
