Anambra State governor Willie Obiano, during his visit to President Muhammadu Buhari in the Presidential villa, disclosed to journalists that he was not leaving his political party, contrary to speculations.
Obiano who was reelected on November 11, described the speculation as unfounded.
The Anambra Governor expressed hope that in the next coming election, his party, All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) would gain more ground as it is already strong in the SouthEast.
“No. Never! That is totally unfounded. I will never leave APGA, I’m the leader and the BoT chairman of APGA and again by God’s grace, the governor and governor-elect,”
“You will see very soon in the coming elections and from there we will match on.”
On the son of the late Biafra warlord, Chukwuemeka Odimegwu-Ojukwu who recently quit APGA for APC, Obiano said: “is of no consequence I’m sorry to say.”
The governor disclosed that he came to the villa to thank President Buhari for keeping to his words and ensuring that the governorship election in the state was free and fair. He added that “I am very happy to come to report to him (the president) personally on the success of the election,”
The governor also used the opportunity to call on those he contested against to set aside their private ambition and join him to move the state to a greater height.
