Ize-Iyamu Defeats Ex-Deputy Governor, Obazee To Emerge APC Governorship Candidate

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has emerged from the Primaries Conducted today by the All Progressive Congress, APC, as the Winner and governorship candidate of the Party.

In a result declared by the Chairman of the Primary Election Committee, Senator Hope Nzodinma saw pastor Ize-Iyamu's polled 27,838 Votes against his Closest Contestant and Ex-Deputy Governor, Dr Pius Odubu who polled 3,776 of the Total Votes Cast.

Pastor Ize-Iyamu defeated the two Contestants Isaro Obazee and Dr Odubu Pius across the 192 wards to Clinch the Supposed ticket.

Speaking Shortly after his Victory, Ize-Iyamu said, "I'm elated and willing to work with everyone. I want to call on my Senior brother, Governor Godwin Obaseki to come back to the party. He is a leader here but can't now be a leader in the party he has gone to". After now we would engage in reconciliation with everyone that is aggrieved"

Despite the Primary Election witnessing relative peace, the All Progressive Congress has been embroid in a crisis that has stoked division and court impediments for both loyalists to the Suspended National Chairman of the Party Adams Oshiomhole and acclaimed interim National Chairman Victor Giadom.

The Victory of Ize-Iyamu today means a window has been created for any of the Aspirants who eventually win the Main Opposition Party, The Peoples Democratic Party's Primaries Slated for June 25, 2020, to slug it out in the forthcoming September Gubernatorial Election.

It would be recalled that recently Governor Godwin Obaseki Left the Party for the PDP to pursue his Ambitions, Citing Unfair treatment be on the part of the Screening Committee who disqualified him on the ground of discrepancies on some of the results presented for screening by the Governor.

Meanwhile, while the party was occupied with Primaries in the state some dissatisfied members of the Party took to the street in Abuja and demanded that President Buhari and APC leaders dissolve the National Working Committee of the party within 72-hour

However, President Muhamadu Buhari has assured governors on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), that the crisis rocking the party will be resolved soon.

The Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) and Governor of Kebbi State, Atiku Bagudu, said Buhari gave the assurance after he and his colleagues met him to discuss party issues and their position to support a peaceful resolution of the crisis in the ruling party.

Bagudu briefed State House reporters, in the company of Governors Simon Lalong of Plateau and Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa States.

The governors also joined the call on the party leadership to urgently convene an emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting to discuss all pending issues and resolve the crisis rocking the party.

The Kebbi governor said the President listened “attentively” to them and gave an assurance that solutions would soon be found to all contentious issues.

Bagudu said President Buhari being a democrat had refused to use his standing to direct events even though he is a leader of the party.
