Pedro Obaseki joined the campaign train of the PDP candidate to defeat his senior cousin, Godwin Obaseki of the All Progressives Congress (APC) after several complaints of intimidation and tactics to stop him from running in the coming governorship race, by the state governor, Adams Oshiomhole.

The LP candidate was allegedly attacked  after he refused the planned rally at the front of his residence in Upper Mission Road area by his cousin and his political party, APC.

According to the information gathered, the thugs who pounced on his boys were wearing T-Shirt and Face cap of APC campaigners.

While speaking with NAIJA CENTER NEWS, Pedro Obaseki admitted that he is now scared and has requested protection from the Commissioner of Police in the state.

Narrating his ordeal to NAIJA CENTER NEWS, Pedro Obaseki said “I was not physically attacked, it was my assistant Mr Ferdinand Orumwense that was attacked at the front of my house.

“The people that attacked my house are politicians, they were wearing branded t-shirts. I know some of their faces, I won’t lie, a couple of them are my cousins. I don’t want to stress the issue, i just want to be protected. I think if this is trumpeted well, we will be able to have a violent free election which I think is paramount for the people of Edo State to know that no blood of the child of Edo State is worth the ambition of any politician.

“Today for the first time, I won’t lie, I was scared. I had to ask the Commissioner of Police for security. I had to ask for my personal security.

“I have complained directly to the Police Commissioner and going to the DPO office.”

Speaking to NAIJA CENTER NEWS on why he was attacked, and contrary to speculation on social media that it was an attempt to assassinate the AC candidate,  Don Pedro said:  “They are planning to do a rally for Godwin in front of my residence and I told them that cannot happen and i left. After about an 1hr and 30mins, about 30-40 of them came to my area with force”

Don Pedro Obaseki admitted to NAIJA CENTER NEWS that the tussle took place outside his compound.
