Kogi State State House of Assembly has extended the tenure of transition Committee Chairmen of the 21 Local Government Areas in the state.

The tenure, extended for another six months, followed a letter sent to the House by the State  Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.

In the letter, the governor asked the HouseHouse to extend its tenure due to the state’s financial situation and the huge resources required to conduct council polls.

There are strong indications that some transition Committee Chairmen will be relieved of their positions, paving the way for fresh leadership in the local government administration in the state.

The alleged decision may not be far from poor performances of the Chairmen and the overbearing influences of their political godfathers who have seen the appointment of their god-sons as an opportunity to milk the councils dry despite the inability to pay workers’ compensation as and when due.
