Barely 24 hours after the National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole lifted his suspension, the Deputy National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (north) Lawal Shuaibu has thrown hits weight on Godwin Obaseki.
Shuaibu returned to the party secretariat on Wednesday months after staying away.
The Vice-Chairman had been at loggerhead with Oshiomhole’s style of leadership and vowed never to return to the secretariat as long as he remains.

The NWC later announced the suspension of Shuaibu and that of his colleague, the National Vice-Chairman (North), Inuwa Abdulkadir for anti-party activities in 2019.
In an interview with journalists at the secretariat on Wednesday, Shuaibu said the letter he wrote to Oshiohole over the crisis in the NWC was because of his love for the APC.
He denied having personal issues other than his leadership style with the National chairman.
“Nobody suspended me, it was just a fight that I wanted to avoid. I don’t want to continue the fight and that was why I kept quiet,” he said.
“There was never any war. My letter to Oshiomhole was not personal. To be honest, I was not fighting him. I was advising him just to save the party from total collapse.
“The structure of the party has become weakened as a result of the inability of the party’s leadership to re-position it. The party has become weakened from ward up to national. This was what I was trying to avoid.
“But as he (Oshiomhole) said, in the spirit of reconciliation, old things have passed away,” he told journalists.
Shuaibu also told journalists that the APC has a better chance with the incumbent governor, Godwin Obaseki.
It is a known fact that Oshiomhole’s differences with Obaseki threaten his second term ambition and the duo have been at loggerhead over the future of the state.
“It does not make sense to bring another person to contest against the governor. Governor Obaseki is the strongest candidate of the APC we have in Edo State,” he said.
Despite the National Chairman’s reconciliation moves and his promise to blend his style of leadership with aggrieved members, party leaders loyal to him has insisted that Oshiomhole cannot compromise their interest.
