Reno Omokri, a former aide to the former President, Goodluck Jonathan has taken a swipe at President Muhammadu Buhari over his travel ban on some Nigerians.

Buhari on Saturday mandated the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Minister of Justice to implement the legality of the Executive Order 6 (EO6) to place 50 high profile persons on the watch list.
In a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President, Garba Shehu, the all assets within a minimum value of N50 million or equivalent, subject to investigation or litigation are protected from dissipation by employing all available lawful means.
This is coming barely 24hrs after the Judiciary affirmed the constitutionality and legality of the order.
Reacting, Omokri wondered why the President did not place a ban to stop his former Minister of Finance Mrs Kemi Adeosun who was accused of forging her National Youth Service Corps exemption certificate.
The former aide who has named himself “the tormentor of Buhari’s administration” also questioned Buhari’s reinstatement and promotion of Maina who was sacked by Jonathan’s administration for misappropriation of fund
He said “How can you ban 50 people from leaving the country without a court order? What happened to their constitutional right of freedom of movement? In this same country, you recalled, reinstated and promoted Maina and gave him armed guards. You didn’t ban him from travelling
“You didn’t ban Maina from travelling. You did not ban grasscutter Babachir. You gave Kemi Adeosun armed security to go to the airport and escape to London. You allow Orji Kalu travel. Now that elections are near, you want to ban your political opponents from travelling”
Meanwhile, the National Publicity Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan of the Peoples Democratic Party described the order as “the height of autocracy, despotism, fascism and a plot to railroad Nigeria into a banana republic”
He called on all democratic across the lines to rise against the ban.
Speaking with NAIJA CENTER NEWS, A former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode described the ban as unconstitutional, adding that “you are innocent until proven guilty”.
“The ban is unconstitutional because you are innocent until proven guilty, you cannot restrict peoples’ movement based on investigation or on the court case. This doesn’t happen in a civilized country, it is a complete violation of human right.
“The banning of 50 prominent Nigerians who are all members of the opposition from travelling out of the country by Buhari’s Executive Order and the power to confiscate their assets even though they have not been empowered to do so by a court of law or convicted of any offence is utterly shameful and condemnable.
“It is nothing less than a descent into fascism and a violation of the fundamental human rights and civil liberties of the individuals that have been directly affected and the Nigerian people. It is also a usurpation of the role of the Judiciary.”
Fani-Kayode said the President mission is to muscle members of the opposition in order to remain in power.
“Buhari is so desperate to remain in power that he has now resorted to attempting to muscle and intimidate the opposition. He forgets that he is not God and that he will soon leave power.I condemn his lawless and desperate ways in the strongest terms.
“Only dictators behave in this way and Buhari has proved to be the most brutal and callous of them all in the history of our nation. I challenge him to do his worse and enjoy the short time that he has left in office. Sadists never last. Soon it will all be over and he will account for his evil ways and brought to justice”, Fani-Kayode said.
Though the Presidency has yet to release the names of those affected, NAIJA CENTER NEWS had reported that the outgoing governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose sued the Federal government for placing him on a travel ban.
