Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim has reacted to the judgment of the Court of Appeal, Abuja, which ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to remove his name as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo State.
Ibrahim said in a statement shortly after the judgment that he was sure of getting justice at the Supreme Court.
He said there was no way the incumbent Governor of the state, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, would succeed himself by planting Mr. Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) as his successor.
His statement reads in part,
“I have read the decision of the Court of Appeal delivered today (Wednesday). We have nothing to lose, as the Supreme Court sits on the same case tomorrow.
“We shall get justice at the Supreme Court and if PDP wins Saturday election, we shall have our four-year mandate to rule Ondo State.
“Let me advise you not to abuse anyone or fight over this one day ruling. Mimiko will not succeed himself with Jegede. This is too sure.
“We continue with our work and remain in our great party, PDP. I love the great people of Ondo state and I thank you all for continuous support.”

Meanwhile, the former Minister of Aviation, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode has congratulated Jegede and Governor Mimiko for the judgement of the Appeal Court.
He also congratulated the National Chairman Senator Ahmed Makarfi.
He rained an expression of shame on the factional chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff, his candidate, Jimoh Ibrahim and Justice Okon Abang.
Fani-Kayode said the usurpers, spoilers and agents of darkness have been exposed, justice has been done, the PDP is back and the party is now on the rise.
The Court of Appeal had set aside the Order by Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja that forced INEC to replace Hon. Jegede’s name with Barr. Jimoh Ibrahim, describing Okon Abang as ‘Father Christmas’
Appeal Court also held that what took place at Justice Okon Abang ‘ s Court was a “charade, fraud, a violent, attitudinal disposition to the Rule of Law and a damning, deprecatory attack”.
The Judge then fined the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the sum of 20,000 Naira only for obeying Justice Abang ‘ s Order.
The Court also fined all the 9 respondents in the Case, that is Barr Jimoh Ibrahim and co the sum of 15,000 Naira each.
The Court is still sitting to determine other leadership matters brought before it.
