An arrest warrant has been served on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Baba for Umo Eno, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State.

A Chief Magistrate Court issued the warrant in Wuse Zone 6, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on charges of "cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property." The complainant in the case is Edet Godwin Etim, and the warrant was issued by Emmanuel Iyanna, Chief Magistrate, on December 23, 2022.

The warrant comes after SaharaReporters exposed in 2022 that Eno's West African Examinations Council (WAEC) certificate is not authentic.

In a letter dated April 8, 2022, WAEC confirmed that Eno’s certificate did not exist in their records.
