The Peoples Democratic Party has held its state Congress to elect leaders who will pilot the affairs of the party in the next four years.
Here in Edo State, the former chairman, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, was re-elected by the delegates.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) State Congress brought together party members and delegates to elect the Executive that will pilot the affairs of the party in the next four years.
The voting process, which was observed by INEC, was well conducted as delegates cast their votes according to their local government.
At the end of the exercise, Dr Aziegbemi score 893 votes to emerge as the state chairman of the party for the second term.
Thereafter, the oath of Office and Allegiance were administered to the new executive after the election result was announced by the electoral committee.
In his acceptance remarks, Dr.Tony Aziegbemi appreciated all members of the party for their support and promised not to fail the party.
“I want to thank all members of the PDP that has continued to have faith in the party am assuring you all that we will do our best to bring the party in the state back to reconning am still using this opportunity to call all aggrieved party members that left to come back as the party is more that before is now strengthened with fresh input”.
Chief Tom Ikimi, PDP candidate in the 2024 Edo state governorship election, Dr Asue Ighodalo, and his deputy, Barr. Osarodion Ogie was among the party chieftains who attended the Congress.
Other positions include vice chairman Victor Enoghama, secretary Duke Tenebe, Publicity Secretary Barrister Daniel Ogbegie, organizing secretary Ifaluyi Isibor, among others.
