Peter Obi Campaign Organization has called out the PResidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, over his possible alliance claim.

During a 15 minutes interview with BBC Hausa on Tuesday, Atiku claimed he was in talks with the candidate of the Labour Party and his counterpart, the flagbearer of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) Rabiu Kwankwaso and assured one of them would support his candidacy.

“Although I see no threat in any of them, we are in talks, and the discussion might yield a positive result that will see one of them coming,” Atiku told the interviewer.

On Wednesday, the Obi-Datti Campaign Group said Mr Obi was not in talks with Atiku as claimed.

The Punch quotes Mr Obi’s campaign spokesperson, Yunusa Tanko, saying that anyone making an alliance claim is attempting to exploit Obi’s popularity.

“As of yesterday, before we left Numan, there was nothing of such nature. We are busy with campaigns. We are not aware of anything like an alliance.

“I think somebody is just trying to cash out on the Obi-Datti ticket. We are right now campaigning in Sokoto and we will be in Zamfara.”

Efforts to get the spokesperson for the New Nigeria Peoples Party were futile as he did not pick up his calls as of the time of filing this report.

I’m not in talks with Atku – Rabiu Kwankwaso denies. says lies will continue till after election.

In a similar position, the candidate of the NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso, denied being in alliance talk with his PDP colleague, adding that he had not seen him since last year.

Kwakwanso appeared on Channels Television on Thursday and expressed disappointment in Atiku’s claims, saying he was not stepping down for anyone.

He said his political party was an alternative to PDP and APC while noting that the two main parties would be forced to negotiate with others should the election go into a run-off.

Mr Kwankwaso said, “Both the PDP and APC have been extremely arrogant. They feel too important; they try to muscle out everybody. If they like you, they like you; if they don’t like you, they kick you out and do all sorts of things.

“Now they will be forced to go for discussion for the first time because before now, what they do is to win the election and take everything to their bedroom. But not again, and that is a great achievement for NNPP; that is our way of bringing democracy and also bringing back these guys who have been rejected by the PDP and the APC.

“Because before now, it is either you are in party A or B, but now people have the opportunity to go out there and contest elections on the platform of an alternative party.

“The message now is simple; we are not ready to go into discussion with anybody whatsoever. We can only discuss with any party if there is no clear winner in the election slated for 25th February.

“We have nothing to discuss with any party and we also want Nigerians to know that, because these lies will continue until after the election.”
