The Governor of Sokoto state, Aminu Tambuwal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has narrowly beaten his political opponent from the All Progressives Congress Ahmad Aliyu with a slim margin.

Tambuwal scored the highest votes in the governorship election after pulling a total of 512,002 from both March 9 and yesterday supplementary election.
Aliyu scored very close with 511,661 losing to the incumbent governor with little as 341 votes.
The cruciality of the election in Sokoto State was that Aliyu was Mr Tambuwal’s deputy governor.
Both men found themselves on different sides of the coin after Tambuwal defected to the PDP.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC declared Mr Tambuwal winner after the result of all the local governments where supplementary elections were held in the state were announced at the state collation centre.
More details to come.
