Abdulmumin Jibrin has declared his departure from the ruling All Progressive Congress, though Bola Tinubu’s campaign chief has yet to reveal his next political party.

Mr Jibrin stated on Twitter on Saturday, “I have done my best for APC.” “Now is the time to move on.” Insha Allah, I will announce my new political party within the next 24 hours. In due course, I will issue an official declaration.”
Mr Tinubu’s support groups in northern Nigeria have been led by the former chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. It was unclear why he left the ruling party, but there have been growing concerns in recent weeks that the APC would allow northern candidates to run for its ticket.
Mr Jibrin has claimed that in the interests of equity, southern candidates should be allowed exclusive rights to run for president, but northern APC politicians, including Jigawa Governor Abubakar Badaru, have stated their willingness to run for president in 2023.
