Why Bola Tinubu's certificate issue does not matter - Uzodimma
The controversy surrounding Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for president's credentials, according to Hope Uzodimma, the governor of Imo state, is unnecessary.
Since the ruling party's presidential primaries, Tinubu's educational background has been the subject of intense debate.
The APC screening panel was petitioned to disqualify him prior to filing for the primary due to his "questionable educational qualifications."
Tuesday, after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential palace, Uzodimma said that the former governor of Lagos had previously run for government and won.
The governor said that since he has submitted his credentials to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) when he stood for office, there is no need for him to do so again.
"The topic of certifications shouldn't even arise," he declared in reference to his presidential candidate.
He ran for office in 1999 and won, then he ran again in 2003 to become the governor of Lagos for a second time.©Standard Gazette, 2021.
