President Buhari called on Nigerians to recognize the country’s strengths, stressing that the situation is not as dire as in other nations.

During a state banquet in Kano, the President commented that the appreciation for their country only comes when visiting other countries where citizens struggle for one meal a day. “We have a great country, but we don’t appreciate it until we visit our neighbors and other countries.”

Buhari praised the high-rise buildings and development he sees while flying in a helicopter, thanking God.

The President urged the elite to inspire young people to value education, acknowledging that technology offers shortcuts but nothing can replace real learning. He congratulated the governors of Kogi, Yobe, Lagos, and Katsina for doing “very well” with the funds available to them.

Buhari also stressed the importance of respecting traditional institutions, saying “Our traditional institutions are respected and honored. It is important that we understand politics and respect people from the bottom to upwards.”

The Emir of Kano thanked the President for extending the deadline for the phasing out of old currency notes, indicating that the President is focused on alleviating the citizens’ plight and is a “listening leader.”

The Emir expressed gratitude to the federal and state government for the developmental projects in the state and their support to the emirate.
