The Atiku Abubakar Presidential campaign spokesperson, Daniel Bwala, explained why Vice President Osinbajo was not on the APC campaign council's list.

It could be recalled that the spokesperson for the Bola Tinubu Presidential campaign, Festus Keyamo, had alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari ordered Osinabjo's exclusion to focus on national issues.

A contrary view from the PDP believed that Osinabjo and the secretary to the government of the federation, Boss Mustapha refused to be included because of the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the APC.

Bwala commented on the matter via his Twitter handle on Saturday.

Nigerians believed that the APC excluded Osinbajo from the campaign council following his interest in the presidency, which political experts believed offended Tinubu.

The APC released the list of 422 members on Friday without Osinbajo and Boss Mustapha.

Bwala tweeted, "We salute the courage of Professor Osinbajo and Boss Mustapha for rejecting the MM ticket by asking to be left out of the campaign council of APC. Say no to religious politics. Nigerians would decide at the polls," he tweeted.

If the PDP's claim is true, Osinbajo and Mustapha won't be the first to request an exemption from the list.

A former spokesman of the defunct Peoples Democratic Party nPDP, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze was one of the first to request exclusion from the campaign council.

In a brief statement he shared with Standard Gazette on 21 September, Chief Eze rejected a proposal made by a politician identified as Ahmad that his name had been submitted to head Rivers State chapter of Project 774 Tinubu/Shettima.

Eze responded, "Ahmad, my brother, let me state that I am humbled and appreciative for this kind consideration, but I am sorry to state that I am not interested.

Please let the National Coordinator and the rest of the members of this great body know that I am not interested in accepting this offer.

"Please bear with me; I wish you and others the best in this regard."

When queried by Standard Gazette why he rejected the offer, the APC member responded, "My conscience and my God."
