The Labour Party (LP) presidential campaign team has explained that Next International Ltd, a company owned by Peter Obi, the standard bearer of the party, was closed voluntarily by its owners and not by the UK authorities as it was no longer in operation.

According to Diran Onifade, head of the Obi-Datti media office, in a statement on Thursday, the company was “voluntarily liquidated” and not shut down by the UK government due to its failure to submit annual accounts.

Onifade also stated, “When our principal insists that you go and verify facts about him and the information he dishes out, he didn’t say go and falsify facts.

The statement further emphasized that Peter Obi is no longer involved in any Next-related business, and highlighted his moral standing based on his past experiences as governor of Anambra state and in private ventures.
