Following the disqualification of two presidential candidates by the People's Democratic Party (PDP) screening committee chaired by David Mark, reports surfaced that the N80 million expression of interest form (40m each) would not be refunded.
The N80 million used to purchase the expression of interest and nomination papers was forfeited by both aspirants whose names were suppressed.
After the screening exercise on Friday, April 29, the previous Senate President broke the news. When asked if the committee recommended to the PDP that the cash be returned to the aspirants, Mark said, "why should the party refund the money?"©Standard Gazette, 2021.
