The All Progressives Congress has reacted to Godwin Obaseki”s defection.
The ruling party National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Lare Issa-Onilu dismissed Obaseki’s defection to the Peoples Democratic Party on Friday afternoon.
Issa-Onilu, according to TheNation reports, said on the phone that the party was not surprised over the governor’s move.

“It has not come to us as a surprise. We knew he had defected long ago because he resigned his membership of the party which we have accepted.
“So you can’t defect twice. So if he is defecting again, we don’t know whether what he has just done now is news any longer,” Issa-Onilu reportedly said.
Obaseki resigned from the APC on Thursday after his meeting with the Presidency.
He had been disqualified from contesting the June 22 governorship primary by the National Working Committee (NWC).
Last week Saturday, the Screening and Appeal Committee affirmed his disqualification even though the government vowed not to contest his disqualification.
