Court Orders Arrest Of Three Aides Of Emir Sanusi
A court has ordered the arrest of two aides to the Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi.
The magistrate court ordered the arrest of the Emir’s Chief of Staff Munir Bayero, Mujitaba Abba and Sani Kwaru.
The order was based on the request made by the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission.
The aides are being probed for alleged misappropriation of funds belonging to the Kano Emirate Council.
Ahead of the arrest, the Chairman of the anti-corruption agency wrote a letter on Tuesday to the Commissioner of Police in Kano requesting a reinforcement of security personnel.
The commission said it has the power to investigate financial misappropriation under the provision of section 38 of its establishment act.
The Commission had invited a former aide of the Emir Isa Bayero over alleged financial misappropriation last month.
The aide told journalists that he honoured the invitation and was showed some document which he requested more time to study.
”I was not given any specific time to report but if I am able to go through the documents (today), May 9, I will call back the following day to face the panel for further interrogation,” he had said.
