The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has moved to stop the National Assembly from investigating the financial allegation levied against him by the family of Chief Humphrey Idisi.

NAIJA CENTER NEWS had gathered that on the 30th of July, 2002, KCA-Deutag Nigeria Ltd entered into a Drilling/work over contractual Agreement with late chief H.I Idisi for which the consideration accruing to chief Idisi was percentage-commission on all the day rates earned by each of the 6 rigs of the former.
The contract was reviewed by the parties on the 29th day of May, 2008 with improvements on the entitlements of late Chief H.I Idisi putting his commission on each of the rigs at 3.5% of the day rates earnings.
Chief H.I Idisi died in 2009 and since his demise, the management of KCA-Deutag Nigeria Limited have not remitted his entitlements according to the agreements reached by the Administrators of his estate.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had invited the German Administrators for questioning and are currently on bail, according to information gathered.
There are speculations that the Commission may ignore Obaseki as he belong to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
A source who didn’t want to be named informed NAIJA CENTER NEWS that the National Assembly (The House Committee on Local Content) was petitioned along with the EFCC, and attempt to investigate the allegation may be thwarted by the APC candidate as he, through his lawyer, Mr. Udo Udoma has served the National assembly on Monday, a court order restraining the lawmakers from investigating the directors and the company for money laundering and breaches of the local content act.
However, it was gathered that the National Assembly may hear the petition by 2pm on Tuesday (today) regardless.
The family of late Chief Idibi alleged that Obaseki was not in place to occupy the position as the decision depends on the permission of the family or lawyers representing the family.
How the APC candidate assumed the office as one of the Directors is still a misery to the family who are feeling short changed by the refusal of the directors to remit what’s due to the late chief over the years.
